If there is such a thing as a theme to my photography, it would have to be “The beauty around us”. I’m talking about beauty that is all around us, but goes unnoticed because most of us are too busy or in too big a rush to see it.

Any place that is considered “beautiful” is actually made up of many smaller beautiful parts. If you can take the time to notice and enjoy these parts, the overall scene is more enjoyable. Anyone who has ever hiked or traveled with me has had to adjust to me stopping often to photograph something overlooked by others.

I am fortunate to live in an area with many of these beautiful places. My home of Red River, New Mexico is the classic mountain town in an alpine setting. Nearby Taos, New Mexico offers a southwest flavor and an abundance of subject matter. Most of my work has been done in these two areas. Yet, many of my other photos have been taken in places considered as “plain” by most people. These places also have their beautiful parts. You just have to look a little closer for them.

When I’m asked for advice on picture taking, the answer is always the same – “Slow down and see the beauty all around you.”

Please enjoy my photos,
